My Mad Scientist Description- By Abdurrahman

The mad Scientist was in his dark and lonely lab, his name was Vector. He was the most evil and scariest scientist in the world. His lab was underneath the sticky and monstrous pool filled with seaweed. The dangerous scientist kept rats and mice as pets. His dark brown hair was shot around his  head. His eyebrows were more than 5 centimeters away from his eyes. He was short with a big lab coat. He wore big circle glasses (which had the power to look through walls) that he crafted himself. He always spoke to himself (or others with an evil grin that went from one cheek to the other. His pockets were filled with small tubes and pens ( with laser beams).  Whenever he did something he always stared at the thing (or person). He always wore more than 5 fingered gloves to scare everything that came in his way.

My Friends Narrative. By Abdurrahman

On a very beautiful day, Wiremu, Amato and I were playing Soccer on the bottom field at school. It was lunchtime.  Amato and I were against Wiremu. We were winning 6-4. Wiremu kept saying it wasn’t fair. Robby heard and joined his team. With Robby on his team it became a draw.

Halfway through lunchtime the field was mostly filled with people playing with us. Then Wiremu using all his power kicked the ball really hard and the ball almost smashed against Miss Anderson’s head. She quickly ducked and the ball zoomed against her head. She angrily stood straight back up and asked us with anger in her eyes “Who did that?”. Wiremu put his hand up and said “It was me sorry Miss”. Still filled to the brim with rage she confiscated the ball from us  and said if you can’t play with this ball properly than don’t play at all” and with that an argument started. Some people going against Wiremu saying thing like “you shouldn’t have kicked that hard” or “Man, Wiremu why’d you kick it?”. The people that were in his defence said things in reply like “All good’s” or “It’s the teacher’s fault for standing there”. I was in Wiremu’s defense.

When the argument broke up I went to everyone and apologized to saying “It wasn’t anyone’s fault”. Eventually everyone settled down and we started playing other games. Wiremu looked really glad that the problem was solved. By the end of lunchtime everyone was happy (, tired from playing) and had forgiven Wiremu.

My Worst Mistake. By Abdurrahman

My Worst Mistake

My worst mistake was when I was about 9 years old. I accidently kicked my favourite Soccer ball at my neighbour’s dog. It was an extremely large canine with teeth as sharp as knives. It’s colour was mud brown.

It all started on a sunny day I was playing with my black ball. I loved the ball very much. The wall and I played passes. Somehow the dog got the ball.

As soon as the fierce beast got it. He bit, chewed and ripped the ball to shreds. I quickly went and knocked on my neighbour’s door. He opened it and saw what was happening. So he ran to the dog and snached the ball from it. I thanked my neighbour and apologized for the trouble.

Once he went inside I looked down at my ball. What do you think I saw? Well I’ll let you know that it wasn’t pretty. My ball was had millions of holes.

From that day on I still wish I had that ball. That was the biggest mistake I ever made. I still wish I hadn’t.

Abdurrahman- Food in my Culture

Eid

Every year at the end of Ramadan (the holy month in Islam) Muslims celebrate Eid, which lasts for three days. During Eid the main thing that happens is the eating of food.  My family celebrate Eid.

In my family the first thing we do during Eid is go to the Eid Gah special prayer prayed on Eid. Sometimes we eat something sweet but small, such as dates, before going. Once we come back we get ready to go visit people’s houses so we can eat.

We go to our Grandma’s house first. She always has mouth-watering food. I usually eat food such as chicken and curry. We try to eat less because we have other houses to go to but that becomes a bit hard because there is a lot of nice food. One of the best things she has is the juice. Then we go to our other close relatives houses until we go back home.

As soon as we get back home our parents get the food ready. Our dad makes butter chicken sometimes and our mum makes the sweets. We sometimes make other cultural food such as sushi. We kids play with our gifts or help out with the cooking. Our mum already does lots of the cooking before Eid. We continue this process for three days. It is really fun.

I love celebrating Eid because it gives you time to be with the ones you love. Also you get lots of money and gifts on the day.

Abdurrahman- My Favourite Movie

unnamed (1).jpg

Home Alone

Home Alone is a downright funny family movie even though it is a PG rated movie the most rudest sentence is the phrase ‘Holy Cow’. It is Christmas time and the McCallister family are preparing for a vacation in Paris which is in France. But the youngest in the family is a boy named Kevin who got into a fight with his older brother Buzz and was sent to his room which was on the third floor of his house. Then early the next morning, while the rest of the family was in a rush to make it to the airport on time. They accidently forgot about Kevin who now has the house all to himself. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parents' bed, and making a mess. Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry and Marv who were about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. Kevin acts quickly by wiring his own house with makeshift booby traps to stop the burglars and to bring them to justice.

Abdurrahman- My Soccer Explanation

Soccer

Do you know how to play soccer? It is one of the best games ever. Let me tell you about the rules, some soccer players and formations.

One of the rules are to never use your hands except if you are goalkeeping or for throw-ins. Throw-ins occur when the ball get kicked out of the side of the field. For throw-ins you have to use your hands and throw the ball to a player. Another reason to use your hands is to  be a goalkeeper. Goalkeeping means to use your arms, legs or any other part of your body to block the ball from going in to the goalmouth. Corners are important because they happen when a player kicks the ball to their side to of the goal. Yellow cards and Red cards are dangerous. A player gets them when he tackles a player.

Now that you know some of the rules lets talk about some professional soccer players. My favourite is Wayne Rooney. He is number 10 for Manchester United and for England International. Other good players are Christiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi.

One of the best soccer formations are 4-4-2. The formation 4-5-1 is mostly good for counter attacking. Formations such as 2-3-5 is not known what it is good for. 4-3-3 is mostly for counterattacking and having the ball more than the other team.

Now that you know the rules, formations and some famous soccer players. You can go and have some fun playing soccer. International soccer is about 90 minutes and there are about 11 players per team. Now you know how to play soccer and play fairly.

Abdurrahman- That Was Summer!

That was Summer!

Have you ever felt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you were tired of running or doing nothing,
you were hot and you jumped right into the swimming pool.
Remember how the water felt on your skin?
It was nice and warm.
That was summer.

Remember that time when you went hiking up the high mountains
along with your family and friends.
Remember how the heat felt on your
skin, it was all gentle, soft and cozy?
That was summer.

Have you ever heard summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when you went to the park,
all the children were laughing loudly.
Remember how the laughing sounded,
like they wanted to have fun all day.

Have you ever felt summer?
Sure you have.
Remember that time when we went
bowling with friends,
holding the ball felt heavy and sweaty.
That was Summer.

Have you ever tasted summer?
Sure you have.
Remember the time when you were hot
and you went to buy some Ice- Cream,
It tasted refreshing and cold on the tongue.

That was Summer.

Abdurrahman- Panmure Bridge at Auckland Library. By Abdurrahman

Today we went on an astounding trip. We went to the museum at the library! We met Mama Piri, Tau from the Auckland Museum And Ruth from Panmure Library. The first thing we did was listen to a story about a rat and a octopus. The whole story is about a rat, who drifted into the ocean on a log. He started crying for help. So an octopus went to help it.  The octopus agreed to help, but the rat needed to pay it back.  Then they went to land, and the rat didn't pay back and but whenever he got scared he scratched the octopus's head.  The octopus was very angry and he swear he'll eat every rat he sees.  This is why the rat-shaped octopus catcher works. We also did colouring pictures and I won a prize.
Next we made these skirts made out of brown paper and had a fashion show with 2 boys and 2 girls. They had to do a dance. At last we said goodbye, and walked all the way back to school again.

My favourite part of all was listening to the story.

Why do we celebrate Waitangi Day? By Abdurrahman.

Why do we celebrate Waitangi Day?

We celebrate Waitangi day because that is the day the British and Maori made peace with the Treaty. The British wanted to use the Maori land but they couldn't just go and use the land. At that time the Maori had no laws so there was no police so someone could steal and get away with it. So the British people decided to make their peoples laws the Maori peoples laws. So they sent William Hobson to pass the message to the Maori people. The Maori people agreed and the Treaty was made. It was signed on 6th February 1840.  Williams Hobson was the first to sign for the British side and the Maori chief Hone Heke was the first to sign for the Maori side. When Hone Heke signed the Treaty he said “He iwi tahi tatou” which meant ‘We are now one people’. The Treaty was made into several copies with a different language for each one. The Treaty house was the house of James Busby. When the British left Hone Heke cut down the flagpole to remember that the british was once there.

By 1974 it became a public holiday. Nowadays people remember the Treaty by celebrating it on Waitangi day. Some people go to Waitangi to celebrate. They have great feasts and lots of activities.

I like Waitangi day because it reminds people about how the Treaty was made and is a great public holiday.
